Guy joined EY-Seren’s Research & Insights Team in May 2017, after making a bold decision to change career.

“My career began in advertising strategy, where getting under the skin of customers and learning what makes them tick is key to successful persuasion and brand-building. This experience encouraged me to transition into a consumer research role at an insights agency, where I delved deeper into uncovering people’s attitudes, needs and behaviours.

A few years later I began learning about User Experience from books and blogs. I was excited by the prospect of using my research and problem-solving skills to help brands design products based on user needs. I took a leap and enrolled in an intensive 3-month UX Design course. The programme opened my eyes to agile working and helped me translate my existing competencies into a UX skillset, which was fundamental for my next steps.

I knew I’d need to begin my new UX career in a company that would support my transition. EY-Seren’s Research & Insights Team has a culture of learning and mentoring that has helped accelerate my development. My colleagues are generous and collaborative and there are no egos – we’re all focused on getting the best outcome.

Switching career can be daunting, but EY-Seren made my move seamless and enjoyable. The company culture creates an environment for me to achieve my ambitions, and my managers are great advocates for my development.”
